The parallel lines with an undulating, wave-like movement in these images are my way of visualizing the invisible space, the atmosphere, the air, the whole space surrounding us, and the energy force binding us.

The work is informed by my strong environmental concerns as well as a firm belief in the universal connection among all living things. My intent is to visualize the empty space, what we cannot see with the naked eye, and what is commonly referred to as “the negative space” in visual arts.

I have envisioned the atmospheric energy, the wave (lengths) that fill the space – light waves, sound waves, electromagnetic, Wi-Fi, etc. and the energy lines connecting objects and bodies. These lines are flowing and travelling through space, colliding, reflecting, refracting, creating new points, secondary lines and shapes that are organic, ephemeral, transient, in motion – lifelike.

In the process the negative space becomes the positive space and determines the subject matter of the artwork. The space that seems to separate us becomes the medium that connects us.
